BioIQ is a range of biologically enhanced fertilisers and soil conditioners that contain a unique combination of specific beneficial PGPB (Plant Growth Promoting Bacteria), key minerals, and amino acid proteins that have not been seen before in the agricultural industry.
A lack of technical information and the inability to identify exactly what biology is being applied, has to-date, limited most farmers appreciation and use of microbial soil fertilisers and conditioners.
The use of BioIQ cannot be overstated in its supply of beneficial micro-organisms in stimulating plant growth and protection and their use as bio-fertilisers and biological control agents to benefit unproductive and stressed environments.
5 Fertiliser Bacteria from BioIQ
Bacillusthuringiensis (Bt) combats the effects of pathogens and soil disease and is toxic to immature insect larvae. Bt will not readily leach in soil and produces growth promoting metabolites (IAA producing bacteria) which stimulate and facilitate plant growth. These bacteria will solubilise phosphate and make it plant available. Bt mobilises native and inherited soil P as well as any applied insoluble finely ground rock P. Bt not only solubilises P, but also mobilises its organic form through mineralization (enzymatichydrolysis) and facilitates the translocation of phosphate directly to the plant through the roots.
Bacillusmegaterium has a strong ability to decompose lecithin, calcium phosphate and phosphor tricalcium. The bacteria changes animal and plant remain in the soil into phosphorus salt and those minerals readily available for fast uptake for plants to use for healthy growing. Phosphorus is one of the three major or primary nutrients for plants that were originally rich in the soil. However, most agricultural soils have a lack of phosphorus nutrients because the element is mostly in the organic state which is hardly dissolved and remains as an inorganic substance. Coupled with this is the practice of using phosphate fertilisers in large amounts in search of high yields. This leads to more phosphorus compounds sitting undissolved in the soil. The bacillus bacteria in BioIQ products, with its phosphorus decomposing effect, promote the dissolvability of the inorganic elements that are often already sitting in the soils after heavy over fertilisation which can readily be absorbed by plants. Bacillusmegaterium therefore is of great assistance to improve the utilisation of the phosphorus element in the soil for increased and healthy plant growth.
Bacillus mucilaginosus is a silicate bacterium. Silicate bacteria are special in the soil as they decompose any potassium minerals, release potassium, and boast a reaction with nitrogen. The bacteria metabolize and cause the production of organic acids, amino acids, amylose, and hormones for plant utilisation. Meanwhile, the reproduction of the bacteria also suppresses pathogenic cells. The level of potassium can be raised by 33-34%. The bacteria demonstrate the effect for improving the quick-acting phosphate and potassium in soil, thus raising yield and quality as one of the most important elements in microbial fertilisers.
Bacillussubtilis is known for its capacity to multiply quickly in the soil. It also shares ability common to the other bacteria in BioIQproducts in that they can form a tough, protective endospore, allowing the organisms to tolerate extreme environmental conditions. It has a strong capacity to produce proteinase, diastase and pectase. These are useful because pectin is the jelly-like matrix which helps cement plant cells together and in which other cell wall components, such as cellulose fibrils, are embedded. It is the major bacillus that decomposes animal and plant remains into available nitrogen in the soil. These bacteria live within specialized nodules on the root systems of plants, where they process atmospheric nitrogen into a form available for the plants to use. Thus bacillus subtillis frees up soil nutrients in both soil and air for plant use. It is also known as an antagonistic organism against plant pathogens combining with Bacillus thuriengensis to suppress plant pests and pathogens.
Bacillus licheniformis This facultative anaerobe bacteria proliferates in soil. It is capable of decomposing protein and lignin to provide nutrition for plants in forms such as amino acids. It can effectively decompose organic matter in the soil and thereby provides nutrition for the growth of plants.
Why Bacteria?
When BioIQ products are applied at the time of planting or sowing, as the seed germinates and roots grow, BioIQ microbes adhere to the epidermis of the roots, forming a mutualistic relationship with the plant. The microbes feed off the exudates of the plant and deliver nitrogen daily throughout its growth cycle.
Managing soil fertility is important, and nitrogen is a critical nutrient in crop production. With synthetic nitrogen fertiliser, unpredictable weather and other environmental factors can prevent up to half of the nitrogen applied from being efficiently used by plants.
BioIQ addresses the nutrient absorption issue through its naturally-occurring microbes that deliver nitrogen in a timely and efficient manner through biological nitrogen fixation —resulting in more productive and predictable crop yields for farmers without nutrient degradation, leaching, or runoff into waterways and reductions in the amount of synthetic nitrogen that is required to grow any crop.
BioIQ was born out of an ambition to reduce the use of synthetic chemical fertilisers and improve soil health, migrating farmers and agribusinesses to programs more sustainable and safer to use.
