Nitrogen is essential to life. It is a foundational building block of proteins, DNA and amino acids. When plants have the right balance of nitrogen, they grow healthily and yield abundantly. While our atmosphere is 78% nitrogen, it is in a form that plants can’t use.
As a consequence, plants rely on tiny microbes that produce nitrogenase, an enzyme that extracts nitrogen from the atmosphere and transforms it to ammonia. In this form, nitrogen is now readily useable as a nutrient so that plants can easily take it up through the roots and turn it into protein.
BioIQ makes nitrogen fixation as natural as breathing for the microbes. Microbes absorb nitrogen gas from the atmosphere and transform it into ammonia for plants to more easily utilise.
